The professional discipline of Facilities Management is a novel profession to Sri Lankan building industry although it is well established in many foreign countries. Many universities and institutions all over the world provide professional education in the field of Facilities Management and wide opportunities for research are also available.

The degree program in B.Sc Facilities Management has been re-accredited by RICS. The degree program was first accredited by RICS in 2006 and it was valid until the recent re-accreditation.
